Change requests
The Change Requests page (/change-requests) is the central queue for
employee-data changes that go through approval — department or position
moves, manager reassignments, salary changes, terminations, and more.
What the table shows
Per row: change type, employee, the proposed change (e.g., "→ Sales Department"), current approval step (with a chain visualisation), status, and a detail action.
Filters: type and status.
Why this exists
Most employee-data fields can be edited inline if you have the right permission, but for sensitive or audit-required changes, FrontLine routes them through this approval workflow. Two reasons:
- Compliance — some changes (compensation, termination) need documented approval chains for audit.
- Coordination — moves across teams need both source and destination sign-off before the org chart updates.
The detail view
Click a row to open the request detail. You'll see:
- The change being requested (current → proposed)
- The full approval chain — who has decided, who's pending, decision history with notes
- Reason code and free-text justification
- An Implement button once fully approved (visible to whoever has the implementation permission for that change type)
Approval chains
Chains are configured per change type in Settings → Approval policies. A chain might be:
Supervisor → HR → CFO (for salary changes above $X)
Supervisor → HR (for routine department moves)
HR (for termination)
If an approver in the chain is on leave, see Settings → Delegations for how their approval authority can be temporarily delegated.
Bulk variant
For large-scale changes (e.g., a re-org affecting 200 employees), use Settings → Bulk changes which uploads a CSV and creates many requests at once.
