Leave types & policies
Two pages cover leave configuration: Leave types (what kinds of leave exist, with accrual rules) and Policies (tenure-based accrual tiers).
/settings/leave — Leave types
The leave types table lists every type of leave the tenant offers: annual, sick, parental, jury duty, etc.
Per row:
- Type — name and code
- Accrual config — annual grant, hourly accrual, or unaccrued
- Jurisdiction codes — country / province / state where the type applies
- Is paid — paid leave vs. unpaid
Actions: Edit, Enable, Disable.
Accrual modes
- Annual grant — N hours / days awarded each year on the calendar or hire-anniversary date.
- Hourly accrual — accrued in proportion to worked hours (typically used for sick leave).
- Unaccrued — no balance tracking; e.g., bereavement is requested as needed without a running balance.
Annual grants can carry over from one year to the next, with optional caps. Optional caps and grant timing (calendar year vs. hire-anniversary) are set per leave type.
/settings/leave/policies — Accrual policy tiers
Tenure-based tiers that override base accrual. Example:
| Tenure range | Annual hours |
|---|---|
| 0–24 months | 120 (15 days) |
| 24–60 months | 160 (20 days) |
| 60+ months | 200 (25 days) |
Each row is editable: tenure range, annual hours, sort order. Tiers are walked in order; the first matching tier wins.
Policies are linked to positions — a position picks up its accrual rate from its linked policies. When an employee changes position, their accrual rate updates accordingly on the next accrual calculation.
Pairs with
- Leave — the request and approval surface employees and managers use.
- Reason codes — the controlled vocabulary leave requests pull from.
